Kohima, June 1 (MExN): The Niathucha Thenumiapfü Block Level Federation under the Kohima Block of Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) held its 2nd Annual General Meeting on May 31 at the Kohima Village Council Hall.
Speaking at the meeting, Vizonuo Pienyü, Block Development Officer and Block Mission Manager, emphasized the need for Self Help Groups (SHGs) to take their activities seriously and adhere to the Mission's guidelines. She said that the strength of the federation is reflected through its member SHGs and urged them to work with dedication and honesty to uplift the block’s economy and improve rural livelihoods. She also highlighted several schemes under the Rural Development Department that support livelihood enhancement and better living standards.
Ruokuolhoulie Dzüvichü, Branch Manager of Nagaland Rural Bank, Kohima Village Branch, commended NSRLM SHGs for their strong repayment history, which has earned them trust and credibility. He encouraged more SHGs to access credit for livelihood activities through formal linkages. He noted that loans exceeding Rs 1 crore have been disbursed to around 35 SHGs so far. During the meeting, loans worth Rs 8.37 lakh were sanctioned to two SHGs.
In his keynote address, Vitsu Yhome, Block Program Manager, informed that the federation currently includes 109 SHGs with a total of 881 members. He added that the fifth phase of federation-level loans amounting to Rs 20 lakh has been sanctioned to 17 SHGs specifically for the purchase of agricultural tools and machinery.
During the business hour, the house read and adopted the Block Level Federation resolutions, the Micro Credit Livelihood Fund Annual Action Plan for FY 2025–26, audit reports for FY 2024–25, and the Loan Committee report.
