The Nagaland In-service Doctors Association (NIDA) has decided to call off its cease work agitation which began on October 28 with regard to the superannuation age of medical doctors in the state.
The decision to this effect was arrived following an assurance that the committee constituted by the government will ‘examine and submit its report’ to the government within 6 months, and thereafter, take the matter to the Cabinet for decision.
Informing this, the Media Cell, NIDA informed that it held a series of discussions on matters pertaining to superannuation age of government doctors.
“After a thorough discussion on the issues raised by the Nagaland In-service Doctors Association (NIDA), it was decided that the Committee constituted by the government on September 13, 2022 shall examine and submit the report to the Government within 6 months and thereafter take the matter to the Cabinet for decision” it stated.
It further informed that the decision was taken in accordance with a meeting between government officials and NIDA officials on November 4 and also in the NIDA’s emergency general body meeting on November 6.
Meanwhile, NIDA while expressing its sincere regret for the inconveniences caused to the public and to the patients in particulars during the cessation of work, has thanked all the civil society organizations, NGOs, well-wishers, individuals and groups for their support.
Also while thanking the state government for their ‘accommodative spirit’ and offering the assurance, the NIDA reminded that it “will not stay idle until the matter is brought to a logical conclusion within the stipulated time.”
