NIDA Issue: DC Kohima convenes emergency meeting, activates control rooms

Kohima, April 17 (MExN): With the Nagaland In-service Doctors Association (NIDA) going ahead with the three-day ‘mass casual leave protest’ from April 18-20, Deputy Commissioner, Kohima Gregory Thejawelie held an an emergency meeting  with medical fraternity on April 17 to take stock of the situation. 

The meeting was attended by Chief Medical Officer, Medical Superintendent, NHAK; President, All Nagaland Private Practitioners Association; Administrative Officers under Kohima; and Administrator of Bethel Hospital, KP Bethesda Hospital, KOHIMAS, Oking Hospital and Putonuo Nursing Home. 

As per a DIPR report, DC Kohima highlighted the matters relating to NIDA  and after receiving suggestions and deliberation, informed all Administrative Officers to be stationed in their own respective posting place to co-ordinate with the Health Centres and monitor the situation and report any emergency cases that may arise.

The DC also requested the CMO to issue necessary notification to all the concerned to open up Facilitation Counter at the Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima (NHAK) and all Health Centres under Kohima District for the Out Door Patient (OPD) and emergencies, it said. 

Dr Kezhalezo, Administrator, Bethel Hospital Kohima on behalf of the private hospitals expressed their readiness to help and co-operate with the Administration, it added. 

Accordingly, it was decided that those referral and other patients who are in need of medical attention shall be taken care of by the private hospitals during mass casual leave period, the report said. 

Meanwhile, for co-ordination in case of emergency, the meeting was decided to open Control Rooms at DC's office and CMO's office which will be manned by ADC and CMO respectively, it informed. 

It will also be opened in all Administrative Headquarters to facilitate the needs of the public and the District Administration shall oversee any matter relating to the proposed protest and notifications would be made if need arise for further course of action, it added. 

Kohima DC constitutes District Level Control Room

A District Level Control Room has been formed for coordination and real time monitoring of the situation with Sub-Divisional Officer (Sadar), Kohima as Chairperson and the members include Chief Medical Officer, Kohima; Medical Superintendent, NHAK; Additional Superintendent of Police, Kohima and District Public Relations Officer, Kohima on April 17.
