NIF urges PM to settle Naga Talks

Dimapur, February 23 (MExN): The Naga Intellectual Forum (NIF) on Sunday submitted a representation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging upon his personal commitment in resolving the Indo-Naga issue.

In the representation, the NIF reasserted “the deep and long felt aspiration of the Nagas to live as one people and the urgency to witness the finality to the longest running peace talk.”

Stating that the Government of India’s recognition of the uniqueness of the Nagas’ history and situation and the subsequent signing of the Framework Agreement in 2015 had “reinforced hope to the Nagas,” it called for the GOI to ensure “the universal spirit of peaceful coexistence through shared sovereignty by translating the Framework Agreement into reality.”

The NIF observed that failure to deliver on this may “further disillusion” the Nagas and lead to “even greater political conundrum in the region.”

As such, the NIF appealed the Prime Minister to devote his time “besides relying on just bureaucratic feedback and inputs,” to settle the Indo-Naga Peace Talks once and for all.
