In tandem with the start of the festive season, the Dimapur Japukong Senso Telongjem is organising a four-day Night Carnival along the footpath at Duncan Basti. The carnival commenced on December 12.
S Bendang Jamir, convenor, mentioned that the objective of the night carnival was to raise funds for the union. Alongside this, it aims to promote local businesses and bring about some form of entertainment for the public, he said.
The carnival will begin everyday from 5:00 PM and close at 10:00 PM till December 15. Jamir further shared that each stall had to pay Rs 3000 as registration fee for the whole duration of the night carnival.
Meanwhile, gambling and drinking or selling alcohol is prohibited at the venue.
Nearly 80 stalls have been set up with food stalls making up the maximum portion. The union has stationed volunteers at strategic locations along the stretch to keep an eye on security and traffic control.
