Night curfew in border areas of Sivasagar

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 27 (MExN): The Additional District Magistrate, Sivasagar, Assam, Moon Gogoi has promulgated prohibitory order under section 144 CrPC  reinforcing  night curfew from 6PM to 6AM in the 5 km belt in Assam side of Sivasagar district bordering Nagaland for 60 days with effect from January 29, 2017. According to a DIPR report, Moon Gogoi, in an order, said prohibitory order has been promulgated, as there were sufficient grounds that anti social elements/extremists/unlawful activities coming across Assam/Nagaland border may indulge in unlawful acts resulting in injury/loss of human life / extortion /destruction of public properties in the bordering areas falling within Sivasagar district.   During the dusk to dawn curfew, movement of any person/group of persons/any-vehicular traffic in the 5 km belt in Assam side of Sivasagar district bordering Nagaland has been strictly prohibited.  However, Magistrate, security personnel of army/CRPF/Police and civil officials deployed on duty are exempted from the purview of the prohibitory order. Gogoi said any violation of this order shall be punishable under provisions of section 188 IPC.
