Nihokhu Health & Wellness Centre celebrates 50th anniversary

Dimapur, October 23 (MExN): The Health & Wellness Centre (Dispensary) at Nihokhu village celebrated its 50th anniversary celebrations on October 23. Zhaleo Rio, IAS (Retd), Advisor, Sericulture, Excise & Minority Affairs unveiled the commemorative plague at the proposed site meant for Primary Health Centre.

Speaking as the special guest, a press release stated here that Zhaleo acknowledged the unflinching efforts of Head GB and colleagues of Nihokhu which is a stellar example for others, especially individuals who sacrificed their land for the welfare of the villagers. “It is a challenge as well as encouragement to the concerned government department for initiation of further action,” he said and pledged his 100% commitment to expedite procedures towards upgradation of the health centre.

On the recent brotherhood venture of the Angami, Chakhesang and Sumi youths, Zhaleo reiterated, “we must help, contribute, share and also strengthen one another to allow the spirit of brotherhood unite all Nagas in general.” He opined that the greatest enemy for Nagas is “ism” which must be eradicated from the root so that peace and unity may prevail to usher in progress and all round development.

On COVID-19, Zhaleo insisted that everyone should opt to acquire Covid vaccination which is “solely for prevention against the disease and not to cure a patient.” He reminded that people must always follow the given protocols or SoPs, viz. regular washing of hands, use of facial masks and sanitisers, maintaining adequate social distance, etc. because the disease “has come to stay with us.”

The programme was chaired by Jolly Zhimomi while Er Ahoto Zhimomi, Head GB gave the introductory speech; Hozheto Yepthomi, Chairman, Ato Area GBs Association, and Liyinbeni, Community Health Officer, delivered short speeches. Special numbers were presented by children choir and male voice by Nihokhu villagers. David Zhimomi, Chairman, Jubilee Planning Board pronounced the vote of thanks while cultural troupes from Nihokhu and Nikhekhu presented dances. Rev Pastor Luhevi Zhimomi, Nihokhu Baptist Church dedicated the 50 years commemoration plague.
