Niketu Iralu graces WASU 39th general conference

Jotsoma | January 18 : The Western Angami Students’ Union (WASU) today held its 39th general conference at the auditorium hall of Kohima Science College, Jotsoma under the theme “Edifying the civic values.” Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Niketu Iralu, trustee, friends of Moral Re-armament (India), trustee, Centre for North East Studies and Policy Research, Guwahati and New Delhi and member Peace Committee NBCC urged upon the students to adequately response to the various challenges ahead. He maintained that winning the challenges would largely depend on each individual responsibility as how one decide, reject what is wrong and take the right path.
Iralu encouraged the students to be well aware of their responsibility and at the same time asked them to prepare well, know the needs as well as weaknesses and response to the challenges with zeal and confidence. Iralu also enlightened the gathering on various issues confronting the present society like, climate change, financial meltdown, increase in population etc. and stressed on the need to address such areas in the right perspective.
WASU president Keviuchüto Kuotsu in his presidential address said the Union has chosen “Edifying the civic values” as the theme of 39th general conference with an objective to identify and adopt the right steps/moral values and march forward with other advanced society.
Also sharing greetings message at the conference, Angami Students’ Union (ASU) president Voto Nyiekha cited the importance of parents and elders’ participation at the student session/conference, adding that their presence play as a guiding factor and encouragement to the students. In this, he made an appeal to parents/elders to continue to grace the student session/conference and understand the progress of the students in various fields as well as their weakness and continue to guide them for securing a greater height. He also informed that ASU conference has been scheduled for 2nd week this year and called upon the students to prepare well for the said conference.
Western Angami Public Organization (WAPO) president Vikehielie Khawakhrie also exhorted the gathering. WASU vice president Zeneisalie Sano chaired the inaugural function while vote of thanks was proposed by WASU assistant general secretary Thepfusakhono Vielie. Later Buno Zetsuvi, associate Professor, education department, Nagaland University also attended the conference as the guest of honour. The conference was also marked by debate competition.
