DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 13 (MExN): In celebration of 100 years of the existence of Nikhekhu village in Western Sümi area, Jacob Zhimomi, Minister, PHED inaugurated the ‘Aphu Khagho’ (Village Gate) of Nikhekhu village on December 12. 

Zhimomi reminded the gathering that the pioneers toiled hard to establish a village here. Paying tribute to the elders, he called upon the people to honor the elders. “Achieving 100 years is a sign of maturity and we should live accordingly,” he said. Pronouncing his blessings, he wished more success for the village. 

Nikhekhu village was founded by late Nikhehu Zhimomi Ato Kukau in 1920 after a British permit was issued by Dr JH Hutton. The Nikhekhu village gate was donated by the children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and in-laws of late Khukihe Ghunakha Yeputhomi in commemoration of 100 years of Nikhekhu village.
