Mon, January 28 (MExN): The Nikshay Mitra initiative to support Tuberculosis (TB) patients was launched at the DC’s conference hall, Mon on January 27. This programme invites contributors to assist tuberculosis patients by providing dietary, additional diagnostic and vocational support. The programme was sponsored by Asian Development Foundation & HODs (Head of Departments), a press release received here stated.
Dr Supongmenla Walling, Chief Medical Officer, Mon announced that with the administration's support, there are 50 donors who will provide nutrition to TB patients from the HODs and 100 from the Asian Development Foundation, which is a significant boost and encouragement for the district.
“Similarly, with the debut of Asian Foundation Mitras, we hope to see a strong performance, and the department is grateful to all donors,” she said.

Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Mon greeted all participants and expressed gratitude to the Asian Development Foundation and members of the district planning development board for providing nutritional support to tuberculosis patients. It is one of the initiatives taken to eliminate tuberculosis, but it is insufficient; there are many more efforts to be made by stakeholders, and a holistic approach to tuberculosis is required because the instances are high and the disease-causing bacteria is quite widespread in our region. He also welcomed any assistance from other charities or individuals who are prepared to help not only nutritionally but in any manner possible as the number of cases in the district rises rapidly.
The CEO of Asian Development Foundation (ADF) highlighted few activities taken up by the team and handed over nutritional supplement donated by the HODs and ADFs to the patients.
The programme was chaired by Imliwapang Senior Tuberculosis Laboratory Supervisor (STLS) and vote of thanks was delivered by Loshon Wangshu Konyak, Programmatic Management of Drug Resistant Tuberculosis (PMDT) Supervisor, National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP), Mon.
