Nine villages attend Kisan Ghosti at Mima

Kohima, February 17 (MExN): With the objective to promote awareness and interaction amongst the inter block farmers and functionaries of ATMA, three blocks of ATMA Kohima district – Chiephobozou, Jakhama and Kohima blocks jointly organized a Kisan Ghosti at Mima village on February 13.  

Altogether thirty four farmers from nine villages representing the three blocks participated in the programme along with ten ATMA functionaries, informed a press release received here.  

The purpose of the programme was to create awareness about potato cultivation to the farmers. The first session was on land preparation for potato cultivation with Theruovinuo, ATM, ATMA Chiephobouzou Block as resource person. The second session was on common diseases and pest management in potato with Rokuotuono Phira, ATM, ATMA Kohima Block as the resource person. The resource person Tolovino, ATM, ATMA Jakhama block demonstrated on intercropping in potato cultivation.  

After the technical sessions there was an interaction session amongst the farmers where they shared their various experiences in potato as well as other crops. There was also an interaction where the farmers put forth their queries to the resource person and the ATMA functionaries present. This session also included the experience sharing and demonstration on potato cultivation by a progressive potato farmer from Mima village.
