Dimapur, May 15 (MExN): A new dimension was added to Aboi District demand today as the public from nine villages under Mopong Circle, Mon clarified that they are not signatories of the Aboi District Demand Committee.
The villages justify the same stating that Tobu-Moka has already submitted two consecutive Tobu District Demand Memorandums to the then Chief Minister Neiphiu on August 14, 2006 and April 20 2007 respectively.
There was not a single Public Meeting or Council Meeting held in these nine villages with regard to Aboi District Demand, therefore the use of any signatory from these nine villages for the same will remain invalid, stated a press note appended by A Yangkon President, Konyak Union Mopong Branch and Wangba Konyak, its former President.
The signature of Wangba Konyak, then president KU Branch Mopong who has signed in the Aboi District Demand Memorandum, was withdrawn by him and the public in 2009 itself as it was done without consultation with the public of Mopong Circle, it maintained adding that it was in utter violation of the Tobu District Demand Memorandum submitted in 2006 and 2007.
The demand of Tobu District by the public of Tobu-Moka, however, is validated and remain mandated by the series of Public Meetings held at Tobu, Mopong and Angjanyang since 2006 in its support, the press note stated.
It further informed that as per 2011 Census, population of Tobu-Moka stands at 75,834 Census and approximately 80,000 as per the National population Register conducted on September 2015 by Census Department.
“It is to be read that the Tobu District Demand is not an ambitious demand with ulterior motives against any Community or Society,” it maintained adding that the District Demand is “based on genuine needs of the 80,000 public of Tobu-Moka, which is all stated in the consecutive Representations to the State Government.”
