Nine villages under Longleng district resolve on burial of COVID-19 death

Longleng, April 28 (MExN): Defying the stigma and misconceptions around the COVID-19 patients and death, nine villages under Longleng district namely Tangha, Yonglok, Namhaching, Apoiji, Shetap, Orangkong and Auching villages have declared to allow burial of COVID-19 death in their cemeteries. 


A DIPR report stated that the village functionaries comprising of the Village Council, Students’ Union, Church and Citizens’ Forum of the respective village issued separate joint resolutions to allowed their citizens to be buried in their cemetery in case of COVID-19 death. 


“The declaration was made for the citizens not to confuse with the rumours spreading that citizens in some places are deprived to use community cemetery for burial of COVID-19 death,” the report added. 


Training on Contract Tracing of COVID-19 cases

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Longlen, M Shayung Phom has informed that a training of ‘Contract Tracing of COVID-19 cases’ for the Department and organisations will be held at Deputy Commissioner’s lobby as scheduled: Surveillance team Longleng block and Police force on April 29 at 11.00 am; Red Cross society Longleng, NYKS, Ward Authorities and Phom Students’ Conference (PSC) on April 30 at 2:00 pm.


Therefore, all concerned are directed to attend the training positively. In addition the Medical Officer at the block level are also directed to conduct the said training in their respective blocks positively and submit an action taken report supported by photos of the training conduct at their blocks.
