Nise Meruno

Dimapur, June 6 (MExN): Nagaland’s celebrated classical pianist and vocalist, Nise Meruno has added another feather to his hat by becoming the “first Indian” to be named the brand ambassador of Yamaha Japan Acoustic pianos. Not only that, he is also the ambassador of Digital pianos by Yamaha, second to acclaimed Pianist and Grammy nominated Jazz musician Louis Banks . Yamaha is an International music company from Japan. It may be noted that Nise was named the brand ambassador of AKG by Harman, Austria microphones.
Meeting with press personnel at the Hope Centre for Excellence, Dimapur where he is presently a piano and voice teacher, Nise expressed an overwhelming feeling on being selected as brand ambassador for two international brands within a span of one year. A feat, much to be appreciated for it is very rare for a single artist to endorse two International music companies, let alone one.
He recollects how when he came back to Nagaland from Delhi he thought “this is it. I’ll be a music teacher”. He feels that more opportunities are coming his way which he attributes as,” I feel that this is really the grace of god leading me”.
He also feels blessed to make a career out of something that brings him much joy and happiness. “People really thought music was just a hobby”, he said and opined, “Gone are the days when we were complacent. We are from a very small state but our talents and performance travel far and wide”.
Nise also shared, “I share this moment with everyone especially with all the musicians of Nagaland”. He also expressed gratitude to his family, friends and beloved students for always believing in him. “I really appreciate the Government of Nagaland also for rendering support. They make me want to give back more,” he added. Nise is also all praises and thanks God. He opined “You may have all the talents in this world and work harder that anybody else but unless God is on your side you will never succeed.”
Choosing to be in Nagaland when he could be on stage performing with acclaimed artists around the world, he said, “I feel most satisfied staying here and being able to nurture talents”.
