Dimapur, February 16 (MExN): The district level NISHTHA (National Initiative for School Heads & Teachers Holistic Advancement) training for elementary and head teachers under the aegis of Samagra Shiksha (SS) Nagaland was held in Kiphire and Mon districts in the past weeks.

Kiphire: A five-day long special phase for NISHTHA training for elementary teachers and head teachers was held from February 11 to 15 at Pungro town, Kiphire district.

During the first day, Nuhuta Tunyi, EAC Pungro exhorted the teachers in the introductory session. He stated that quality teaching is essential for quality education. While recalling the low quality index, he urged the teachers to take the training seriously and improve learning outcome at schools.

Noting that the practice of keeping proxy teachers is one of the biggest menaces to education, Tunyi appealed to the teachers not to indulge in it.

While government schools have the most qualified teachers, he regretted that the students’ performance show poor results. This was because, “quality of education at school is dependent of the commitment of teachers to their jobs,” maintained the EAC.

Kelhikha Kenye, Assistant Mission Director Samagra Shiksha in his keynote address, informed the teachers that Pungro is the only education block for whom the NISHTHA training was being organized.

7250 teachers have been covered in Nagaland in the first two phases, he added. Kenye also reminded the teachers that the training which is based on integrated training module offers golden key to a state like Nagaland to revamp quality education and urged them to replicate the training modules when they go back to classrooms.
