NITTE University, Mangalore invites students from Nagaland

Kohima, July 30 (DIPR): At the initiative of the Governor P.B. Acharya, NITTE University, Mangalore has invited five students each from Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh as ‘Guests of Nitte University’ to visit Mangalore and Udipi, which is the hometown of the Governor from September 2 to 9. The selected students will be joining 20 (twenty) students from T. Ramona College and Aizawl West College of Mizoram.  

All expenses of the tour will be borne by NITTE University. The exchange programme is facilitated and coordinated by Indian National Fellowship Centre (INFC), Mumbai.  

Welcoming the gesture of the university, whose registrar Dr. M.S. Moodithaya attended the 31st Statehood day function at Itanagar as State Guest on the invitation of the Governor, Acharya said that providing exposure opportunity to the students from strategic border states like Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Mizoram will lay strong foundation for emotional and national integration.  

The Governor further expressed wish that other premier universities in different parts of the country also initiate such goodwill gesture for people of North East India.  

Earlier in the month of March, at the initiative of the Governor, 5 students from NITTE University visited Aizawl and participated in the silver jubilee celebration of T. Ramona College, Aizawl.

It may be mentioned here that Governor Acharya had initiated the Educational Emotional and National Integration and Home Stay programme to Mumbai for 18 students from Puroik Community in the month of June which was sponsored by the Indian National Fellowship Centre (INFC), Mumbai.
