Niuland, June 2 (MExN): The monthly meeting of the District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM), Niuland, was held at the DC Conference Hall, Niuland on June 1.
Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of DWSM Niuland, T.L. Kiusumong Tikhir, welcomed the members and highlighted the importance of holding regular meetings of the mission. He urged members to extend full cooperation in improving water quality services across the district and called upon the village authorities of Viyito and Hovishe to become role models in complying with the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules, 2026.
Executive Engineer, PHED Rural Division Dimapur and Member Secretary of DWSM, Er. Nirie-e Nisa, presented the agenda of the meeting.
He informed members that the department is observing the "Swachh Gaon, Surakshit Jalvayu" campaign from June 1 to 5, during which a series of activities are being conducted across the district.
The activities include sensitisation programmes for Gram Panchayats and Lead Facilitators on SWM Rules, 2026 and court directives, site visits and functionality assessments, identification of bulk waste generators, awareness campaigns, plantation and cleanliness drives, and special Gram Sabhas to mark World Environment Day 2026.
