Nizams FC continued their winning momentum as they beat G-Sporting Club at the Police Ground, Chumukedima to go top of the Case Premier League table on Saturday.
The match saw Nizams beat G-Sports 3-1 – their second consecutive win with a similar scoreline.
Aloto Yeptho opened the scoring for Nizams in the 3rd minute before G-Sports equalised in the 10th minute through Vizoru Peseyie – a long range super strike, which nestled into the back of the net past a diving goalkeeper.
However, Nizams continued to press for a goal and their persistence paid off in the 20th minute when Themreiso from wide found Aloto who passed it to an unmarked Akato from just outside the 6-yard box – the latter making no mistake in finding the net.
Nizams added to their tally 10 minutes after the restart when Akato played a through ball for Pele who beat the off-side trap and slid the ball home.
Defending champions Trinity FC dealt Super Strikers their second consecutive loss. Lipok converted from a penalty in the 11th minute and Imtiyanger doubled the lead in the 32nd minute. Super Strikers pulled one back in the 47th minute but the two-time champions held on for their first win of the season.
In the early kick-off, Teammate beat Case FC 3-2 while Natak FC were held to a 1-1 draw by STAFAC FC.
Nizams lead the points table with 6 points after two matches while Teammate and Natak have 4 points each. Case FC and Trinity follow with 3 points each while G-Sports and STAFAC both have 1 point. Super Strikers are yet to open their tally in the points table.
