After discussion and voting on the budget for the year 2020-2021 and passing Nagaland Appropriation (No.2) Bill, 2020, the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) Speaker Sharingain Longkumer today adjourned the 5th session of 13th NLA sine-die.


Nagaland Appropriation (No.2) Bill, 2020 authorised withdrawal of Rs. 21068,85,19,000 (Rupees twenty one thousand sixty eight crore eighty five lakh nineteen thousand only) from and out of the consolidated fund of the state of Nagaland for the financial year 2020-21.


During seven day sittings, apart from Governor’s Address to the Assembly, Ratification of the 126th Constitution Amendment Bill, 2019 on January 17, election of new Speaker NLA and budget presentation for the year 2020-21, the House discussed on several issues including CAA, Naga political issue, SARFAESI Act etc.


The House passed five Government Bills- Nagaland Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill 2019, The Nagaland Agricultural Produces and Livestock Marketing (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill 2020, North East Christian University (First Amendment) Bill, 2020, The Nagaland Appropriation (No.1) Bill, 2020 and The Nagaland Appropriation (No.2) Bill, 2020.


The matter of CAB 2016/CAA 2019 and NRC also figured in the discussion on matters of public urgent importance under Rule 50.


Besides laying of annual administrative report, assembly committee reports, department service rules, the session witnessed 41 starred and 8 unstarred questions.


Meanwhile, NLA speaker thanked all the members for their full co-operation and support in running the House very smoothly during the session.


“In all we have had a very constructive session,” the Speaker said.
