Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) speaker Sharingain Longkumer today adjourned the 7th session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) sine die after completing all the proceedings of the business.
The House today passed two Government Bills “The Nagaland State Finance Commission Bill, 2025” and “The Nagaland Flood Plain Zoning Bill 2025,” which was introduced by Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio on September 2.
The 7th Session in its two day sittings witnessed discussion on matters of urgent public importance under Rule -50 relating to “Unemployment in Nagaland” raised by Nagaland’s industries & commerce advisor Hekani Jakhalu and “Safeguarding the Rights of Indigenous Communities” raised by NPF Legislature party leader Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu.
Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton made a statement on the recent eviction drive undertaken in the Disputed Area Belt (DAB) along Nagaland and Assam border.
Patton assured that the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio “is according topmost priority to the entire issue and is continuously and actively monitoring and pursuing all matters pertaining to eviction drives initiated by the State Government of Assam in the DAB Areas alongwith other border issues with Assam, both at the ccntral and state level.”
Two matters pertaining to “Deduction of Goods & Services Tax” and “Reservation Policy” was raised during Zero Hour by A. Pongshi Phom, MLA and Dr Tseilhoutuo Rhütso, MLA, respectively.
The Session was also marked by obituary reference on passing away of Late La. Ganesan, Governor of Nagaland and former MLA Late Nungsangyapang, presentation of Annual Administrative Reports, Presentation of Reports/Rules, Assembly Committee Reports, Question Hour and Report on assent of Governor of Nagaland on 7 Bills.
