DIMAPUR, MAY 1 (MExN): The Nagaland Congress (NLC) today furnished data on appointments in the Nagaland State Power Department and said that there is “excessive appointment of non locals and questionable mode of appointment” in the department.
This comes after the party had over the past weeks issued statements slamming the Police Department and PWD (Housing), questioning their appointment processes as well.
The NLC today issued a press statement where, based on RTI information furnished by the Office of the Chief Engineer: TransNagaland, Kohima, it revealed data of regularized, non regularized and contractual appointments in the Power Department (as of 8/10/2016). (See Table)
The data, furnished by the NLC, showed that 19% of total employees in the Power Department in the State are non locals; non locals are 3rd highest employees in this department; and that apart from 15% of total fresh appointment done through NPSC & DSC, all appointments (save promotion) reportedly done by department was “plainly direct appointment or backdoor appointment.”
While informing that the Department “did not mention a single case as that of direct appointment,” the party however termed this as a “blatant lie.”
“The silence of the government or department, be it Police Department or PWD (H) is explicit acceptance of the stated facts, thereby leaving no scope to further substantiate those with more empirical evidences. But silence will not acquit the guilty or appease the exploited sections in any manner,” the NLC said.
Whether or not the government or concerned department reacts responsibly, the NLC affirmed that it would “keep coming out with more facts at least for citizens to react responsibly before it is too late.”
