NLSF opposes CAB, ready to challenge its implementation

KOHIMA, FEBRUARY 9 (MExN): The Nagaland Law Students' Federation (NLSF) has opposed the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) 2016 and asserted that they were ready to challenge it from implementation, even if it is passed by the Indian Parliament.

The NLSF, in a press release maintained that the “Nagas are all Indians by choice or coercion,” pending the final settlement of the Indo-Naga issue.
Most North-easterners in mainland India have faced discrimination in some form or the other and are still facing, due to “our physical appearance and attributes which God created and we inherited the Mongolian DNA,” it said.

The release however, stated that Hindus of North-eastern states opposing the Bill which allows Hindus from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan begged the question of why they were “against their brethren in terms of religion with similar religious practices?"

It further said that Hindu majority North-eastern states of Manipur and Assam were leading the charge in opposing the Bill, which seem similar to “Hitler's Nazi party policy and implementation of the extermination of Jews and promoting the idea of racially pure Aryan race.” It alleged that tactics and strategies have changed but the aims and objectives were similar.

It further questioned, “If CAB is just an issue of demographics and vote bank politics, then why are the Mizos of Mizoram state under Indian union sloganeering "Hello China, Bye Bye India; thereby rejecting democracy and welcoming Communism?”

Even Christians were opposing Christians from the three mentioned countries in the Bill, the release said.

The Bill has “many dimensions of nefarious hidden agenda,” the Federation claimed while stating that it is ready to challenge it even when passed by the Indian parliament.
