Law, by its nature is not static, but dynamic. Similarly, in order to move forward we should be ever ready to adapt ourselves with the change of time. A law that might have been considered good law decades back may not be a good law today. Subsequently, there is no denying the fact that, the NLTP Act 1989 is no more applicable in the present scenario.
I, on my layman point of view would like to make a short reference here, i.e. on march 28, 2013 “His Holiness Pope Francis” in his most significant break with Roman Catholic tradition washed and kissed the feet of two young women at the juvenile detention centre in a Holy Thursday ritual. Traditionally only men were supposed to have their feet washed, depicting the twelve apostles. Though, what Pope had done is in contravening to what had been already written in The Bible, but, He has done it purposefully to propagate the message of “Gender Equality” and “Limitless Charity”.
From this instance, any sane person will comprehend that, even The Word of God itself are being adjusted and revised to suit the changing circumstance, then, why it is so hard for the State Government/NBCC to lift the NLTP Act 1989. After all, Laws are meant for the people and if the people do not support certain Law, it needs a revisit and if necessary, it should be amended or scrapped, in line with the current situation.
