Dimapur, March 25 (MExN): On the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act, the new Advisor for Excise, Labour, Employment & Skill Development, Moatoshi Longkumer was of the view that “if it stays, it will have to be enforced.”
A press release issued by the Excise Department stated that exhorting the Excise department officials during an introductory meeting at the conference hall of Commissioner of Excise on March 25, the Advisor encouraged the personnel to “prove their worth as the department is fully empowered under the Act.”
The Advisor “observed that “the sorry state of affair is unfortunately an appendage of the past.” He stressed that there will be a “change in the system and work culture that will promote and reward meritocracy” and to that end, he will extend all possible support. He also expressed concern on the accessibility and proliferation of drug use and abuse in the society.
The chairperson, Chanlei Angh DC (Hq) welcomed the Advisor and all Rank and File of the Department to the meeting. The Commissioner of Excise, H Atokhe Aye NCS, in his welcome address highlighted how the “Department has mostly been neglected but reiterated that it has the potential to make a positive impact in the society.”
The Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Excise Department, Kevekha Kevin Zehol, NCS outlined that the Department has various ongoing proposals pertaining to infrastructural development, Checkgate activation, Narcotics related matters which he hoped will come to fruition under the Advisor.
