KOHIMA, FEBRUARY 23 (MExN): The Naga Mothers' Association (NMA), while appealing for peace and non-violence during the period of State election, has drawn the attention and immediate intervention of the Governor to the recent incidents of violence against women and unwarranted death of youth in the build up to the election.
A press release from NMA president further urged stringent punitive action against the perpetrators and those found guilty. The Association stressed on the need to have free and fair election of representatives.
Meanwhile, NMA conveyed best wishes to the five women candidates – Rhakila (Tuensang Sadar), Dr Apu Chang (Noksen), Rose Dukru (Chizami), Awan Konyak (Aboi), and Wedie-u Kronu (Dimapur-III).
“We are confident that they will work with great commitment for their constituencies and the Naga people as a whole. We pray for God's blessings upon them on the path breaking journey they have chosen, to bring positive changes in governance and the Naga society,” NMA added.
