Kohima, July 16 (MExN): The Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) today stated that the Baptist World Alliance 2025 Congress Quinquennial Human Rights Award for its Advisor, Sano Vamuzo, was a ‘well-deserved’ recognition for her “outstanding Christian witness in the service of human rights and social justice.”
Padma Shri Sano was recently conferred the award during the Baptist World Congress held in Brisbane, Australia, from July 7–12.
The NMA also expressed gratitude to the BWA for the recognition and noted that Sano represents the struggles of Naga women through the varied activities undertaken by the NMA and her support over the years.
Her contribution to the women’s collective includes standing for women’s rights and raising women’s voices to come together to stop killings and bloodshed during decades of conflict through successive leaderships of the Naga Mothers.
Honouring Sano’s courage and guidance, the NMA also wished her good health and peace of mind, calling the recognition well-deserved.
“We place on record our deep gratitude for her service to the Naga Mothers’ Association,” it added.
