NMA files FIR, seeks public apology from scribe

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 3 (MExN): The Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) has filed an FIR against Manoj Anand, Special Correspondent for a national newspaper for referring to the NMA as a “frontal organization of the NSCN (IM)” in a report published on August 29. 

A press release from the NMA refuted the claim made in the report which it said “has been widely circulated” on social media. It said that “this kind of wild allegation is baseless and unfounded and used with malafide intent to defame, humiliate and intimidate Naga women.” 

The FIR has been lodged under the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act, with the Director General of Police, Nagaland, Kohima, the NMA informed. Further, a legal notice has been sent to the reporter “to tender a public apology and withdraw his article and remove all his posts on this specific article on social media, facebook and twitter, which has defamed the NMA, within 15 days or face legal consequences of defamation.”
