NMSYO 37th Biennial Sports Meet underway

MARAM, SEPTEMBER 27 (MExN): The 37th Biennial Sports Meet of the Northern Maram Students and Youth Organization (NMSYO) got underway at Lamsyipou (Lairouching), Maram, on September 26.

Er Kropol Vitsu, Advisor for Prisons, Printing & Stationery, attended the event and in his address highlighted that the meet was not only a celebration of athletic excellence but also a reaffirmation of the historical bonds and enduring friendship between communities. He commended the NMSYO for its efforts in fostering leadership, healthy competition, and communal harmony among young people.

“It was deeply heartening to witness the spirit of brotherhood and unity that continues to bind our communities. We must remain committed to preserving and strengthening this sacred bond forged through generations,” he said.

Er Vitsu also paid tribute to the Maram tribe for their historic resilience and valor, recalling their defense of the Viswema villagers against the forces of the Manipur King, a defining moment of solidarity in the collective memory of both communities.

“The Marams have always stood tall in the face of adversity. Their courage and loyalty are not only part of our shared history but also a guiding inspiration for our future,” he added.

The meet will conclude on October 5 with Dr Immanuel K. Muivah (IPS), ADG, Manipur Police as chief guest, K. Kuba Peter, President NPO and Col Sandeep Sharma, Commandant 16 AR, Maram as the special guests at the valedictory function.
