NNaga DAO calls for 'immediate' NSACS executive board meeting

Kohima, March 13 (MExN): The Network of Nagaland Drugs and AIDS Organisation (NNaga DAO), the apex body of NGOs and CBO working in the field of Drugs and HIV & AIDS in Nagaland, has drawn the attention of Commissioner & Secretary Health & Family Welfare cum Chairman NSACS and has appealed the Commissioner to immediately call an NSACS executive board meeting.

NNaga DAO in a press release pointed out that NSACS did not have its executive board meeting for more than a year, and insisted that it is pertinent for the society (NSACS) to have its executive board meeting and update its activities; financial status; especially the backlog and the annual action plan for the coming financial year 2017-2018 of the state, to the executive board members.

While stating that NNaga DAO and its partners NGOs and CBOs are committed in the efforts to achieve the UNAIDS's vision for zero new HIV infections and zero discrimination, it demanded that NSACS officials clearly spell out the current situation and the annual action plan for the next financial year 2017-2018 for the state.

“In case of failure in inviting an executive board meeting, the executive board members and program implementing NGOs and CBOs shall not be responsible or accountable to any setback to HIV program in state,” the NNaga DAO cautioned.

NNaga DAO also appealed to the Chief Minister Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu and Minister for Health and Family Welfare, P. Longon to monitor and supervise HIV policies and programs of the state for effective implementation to achieve the national goal of reversing the HIV epidemic and the '90-90-90' targets (90% of people with HIV diagnosed, 90% of those diagnosed on ART, and 90% of those on ART virally suppressed).
