Dimapur, May 19 (MExN): Naga National Council (NNC) Ao Region gathered on May 16 to commemorate the 75th jubilee of the historic Plebiscite conducted by the people of Nagaland. “This significant memorial event was held at Yimyu (Khensa), a place of historic importance where Nagas and Government of India once engaged in critical debates of Indo-Naga political issue,” Tsupong Longchar, Working President, NNC Ao Region stated in a press release. The event was organised under the leadership of the daughter of NNC “symbolising the enduring legacy and aspirations of the Naga people of Ao Region.” The NNC Ao Region honoured all those who sacrificed their lives for the Naga freedom movement. “As the Nagas step into the 76th years since the historic Plebiscite, prayers were offered for God's guidance to lead them into this new phase of their journey,” it stated. The commemoration concluded with feast at Alichen (Longkhum).
