NNC censures state elections

Dimapur, February 28 (MExN): The NNC condemns what it calls the “Indian-imposed election once more” in Nagaland “with their military might.” The NNC states that the Plebiscite of 1951 is the “final verdict” of the Naga people.

“The plebiscite was the Naga national conviction and decision with one accord. And this is the basic and fundamental rights of the Nagas for sovereignty which cannot be ignored by the Government of India in particular and the world at large” the NNC said through Mhasi Angami, of the outfit’s information and publicity wing. For this reason, the NNC refuses the elections any place stating that the said plebiscite is “national pledge” to be abided by all till sovereignty is secured. “The NNC stand on this uncompromising and final verdict of the Naga nation. The Naga political problem is a problem of invasion by the occupational forces of India and Myanmar and this is a real test to the determination of the Nagas and a challenge to the political wisdom of the concerned nations of the world to settle this undisputable plight of the Nagas of sixty long years of struggle” it said. Also, the Naga people cannot remain indifferent to what is of now but to continue to raise their rights together through “Naga national unity” to all the “friendly nations” and at the “international level” for their support, it added.
