NNC Chakhesang Regional Council clarifies stand to NSCN (IM)

Phek, February 11 (MExN): The President of the Chakhesang Regional Council, NNC, Velicho Rhakho, has reiterated the NNC stand that it is “not demanding anything from the Government of India (GOI) but to leave Nagaland.”

Rhakho stated this while clarifying that it was the Chakhesang Regional Council, NNC that requested Adinno Phizo to address their general meeting.

“Every Region has the autonomy to exercise its own regional affairs which does not affect the nation,” stated Rhakho in a press release today responding to the Secretary/CAO of the NSCN (IM), Trokho Nuh, who had claimed that Adinno Phizo had summoned the general meeting.

“Regarding sabotaging the peace talk of NSCN (IM) and GOI, the NNC has no intention to interfere into such talk,” maintained Rhakho.

Further, “The present peace talks of NSCN (IM) with GOI is only demanding something from GOI and it is up to GOI whether to grant their demand or not. The stand of NNC was cleared that the NNC is not demanding anything from the Government of India but to leave Nagaland. The NNC is appealing to the UNO to recognize their sovereign right.”

Regarding the acceptance of Indian constitution in the Shillong Accord, Rhakho asked the Secretary/CAO of the NSCN (IM) to ask the Indian authorities if there is any “valid record that the NNC accepted the Indian constitution through the Shillong Accord of 1975.”
