‘NNC-FGN’ nabs four for ‘illegal tax collection’

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 11 (MExN): Four persons namely – one Solomon alias Inato, a Prem alias Richard Lishram, one Ayeto Ayemi and a Nipato Chishi were handed over to the police by the ‘NNC-FGN’ Saturday, September 11. According to a press note from Tokugha Zhimomi, Commander, 6th Brigade Naga Army, ‘FGN’ the four were “arrested for collecting illegal tax by taking the name of NNC-FGN” September 11 at the Super Market, Dimapur. Demand notes alongwith receipt ‘challan’ were also found on their possession, the note added.

The demand notes were served under the name of the ‘FGN’ while the ‘receipt challan’ bore the nomenclature of the ‘NNC (Non-Accordist)’, Zhimomi later corroborated over phone.

On interrogation, the four “voluntarily admitted that they were active members of the NNC Non-Accordist (Jotsoma)” and had demanded ‘illegal tax’ on earlier occasions from different shops in Dimapur, the note further stated.

Zhimomi further said that the four were also responsible for a shooting incident at the Super Market which occurred on September 6 last. That time as well, the four had forcefully collected ‘tax’ from shop-keepers taking the name of the ‘NNC-FGN’ and escaped after firing two shots in the air. They were eventually caught Saturday morning from the Super Market by ‘NNC-FGN’ cadres while in the act, Zhimomi said.

The police, Zhimomi said, are requested to detain the four under NSA. He further cautioned that the ‘NNC-FGN’ will not be responsible, if the four are released from police custody and re-engage in anti-social activities in future.
