NNC flayed for abduction, murder

Dimapur, August 18 (MExN): The Yezutu-B Ghami Kughuko Kuqhakulu Dimapur has condemned the “barbaric act of NNC (Accordist) cadres for abducting and murdering Ameto Awomi.”

The Yezutu-B Ghami Kughuko Kuqhakulu Dimapur stated in a condemnation note issued by its Chairman Yeheto Nartho and General Secretary Vitohe Chishi that “execution is senseless” and “baseless”.  It also said that when the family members, village elders and NGOs appeared before the Assembly of Sumi Region at Peace Camp, Kohima on June 29, 2010, the commander himself was present in the house of Sumi Region Assembly “did not make any declaration but instead denied any involvement in the case and when the family members and villagers pleaded to know if Ameto Awomi had committed any National offense so, that they would take the responsibility and may settle the matter amicably, the Assembly assured to investigate and coordinate with the family members and villagers in the matter”.

Moreover, in the meeting with Phutoi Zhimomi, Kilonser on June 23, 2010, the officer declared Ameto as one defector but had been pardoned and as such that they had no reason to arrest him. “Despite repeated appeals, killing of abducted person without hearing by the Government shows the ruthless nature of the cadres and the mayhem system of the NNC (Accordist) Government The culprits even threatened Hoto, Late Ameto’s friend, who was the witness of the incident. The NNC (Accordist) Government should take note of this dead threat and be aware of another crime that could be committed by the cadres. The NNC Government must take immediate action and hand over the other culprits to the Police and deliver justice to the bereaved family,” it stated.
