‘NNC is the only Naga political institution and FGN is the legal national government’

Dimapur, October 2 (MExN): Responding to the news item ‘Federal Government of Nagaland Tatar Hoho reacts on leadership crisis’ on October 1, Zaleo, Kilo Kilonser, Federal Government of Nagaland has issued a clarification.

It reiterated that “Naga National Council is the only Naga political institution and the Federal Government is the legal national government. Naga history must not be distorted, controlled nor guided by misinterpreting the Yehzabo intentionally or ignorantly. The Yehzabo had guided our nation for 55 Years now in freedom movement spanning 77 years since the declaration of Naga Independence on August 14, 1947.”

It maintained that the speaker of Tatar Hoho conventionally summon the normal and emergency Tatar Hoho only on the directive of the Kedahge, FGN in exercise of Art 61 of Yehzabo. “He has no constitutional power to call a Tatar Hoho without the consent of the kedahge or kedallo depending on circumstances. Tatar Hoho is the House of law makers which comprises Tatar from all the affiliated Regions.”

“Only 2 Tatars, 1 from Chakhesang Region and 1 from Sumi Region attended the September 23 meeting at K Basa called by Speaker Kunuchosa Rhakho without the consent of Acting Kedahge, Federal Government of Nagaland and made it unconstitutional,” Zaleo asserted.

Stating “Art 23 of the Yehzabo provides that the Kedahge shall by writing under his own hand and addressed to the kedallo tender his resignation and which shall be communicated to the speaker of the Tatar Hoho,” he added, “There is no provision in the Yehzabo for a Speaker to accept, reject or control the resignation because the power and authority lies with the Kedallo in such a circumstance.”

Whoever had committed treason against the nation were expelled NNC and FGN on September 27 in the Emergency Tatar Hoho called by the Acting Kedahge. From that day onwards they cease to hold any office or authority under NNC and FGN as a national worker, it stated.
“Therefore, our people must not be misled by such element in the coming days,” Zaleo added.

TS Keyho, Vice President, NNC retained
NNC President Gen (Retd) Thinoselie M Keyho has notified that TS Keyho, Vice President, NNC had clarified his position in respect of the unconstitutional meeting on September 23 at K Basa village. “Having clarified the implications against him in this regard, I hereby announce that his expulsion order is revoked and that he shall continue to be the Vice President of the Naga National Council till the expiry of the present tenure of the office,” the President stated in a retention notice.

In a clarification statement, TS Keyho, Vice President, NNC has expressed shocked to come across news reports on September 26 reporting on him being elected as NNC President in place of Gen (Retd) TM Keyho in a meeting at K Basa village on September 23.

“It is unfortunate and outrageous to make such claims without my consent. I never acknowledge, endorse nor accept the decisions of the said meeting which I later found was unconstitutional. The report was aimed to tarnish my image, reputation and integrity which I condemn. I declare in front of our nation that I was not a member of conspirators of that unconstitutional meeting. My loyalty to the nation must not be questioned by anybody. I shall continue to serve our nation with the president of the Naga National Council, Gen (Retd) Thinoselie M Keyho,” Keyho affirmed.

He also requested the government to consider his case and revoke his “expulsion Ahza on September 27 due to false reports.”

Meanwhile, the Sangtam Region Government has declared its stand that they will continue to serve and support under the leadership of Gen (Retd) Thinoselie, President, NNC and Acting Kedahge Namrikiu, Federal Government of Nagaland. This was stated in a press note issued by T Thonger, Kilonser, Sangtam Region FGN.
