NNC (Parent Body) flays Disturbed Area Act

Dimapur, July 4 (MExN): The Naga National Council (Parent Body) has condemned the “imposition and extension of Disturbed Area Act/Armed Forces Special Power Act” in Nagaland calling it a “draconian Act.” 


The Act is imposed in Nagaland since 1958 and this “aggression with brute force” is a complete violation of International Human rights and should be condemned by all right thinking human rights organisation and community of Nations across the world, it said in a statement. With the ceasefire and talks between Government of India and different Naga political groups to settle the Naga political problem peacefully, NNC (Parent Body) further said that “there is no conflict or violence occurring in Nagaland.”


“Therefore there is no conflict or violence occurring in Nagaland, even then these black laws are imposed over and over again to suppress and oppress the Naga people who are longing for peace in the land,” the statement issued by from Information & Publicity Wing , NNC.  The NNC also appealed to the International bodies and institutions to support and speak for the “political plight of the Naga people and its land.”
