NNC (Parent Body) wants NGOs to name groups involved in taxation

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 23 (MExN): The NNC (parent body) has washed its hands off over the allegations made by NGOs and the church on heavy taxation imposed by the different Naga Political Groups.

A press release issued by the Information & Publicity Wing on Friday claimed that the NNC (Parent Body) under the leadership of Yilow Humtsoe (vice president), Zhiongba Yimchungrii (vice president) and V. Nagi (general secretary) “never, never collect tax or impose/force anyone whether it is the public or businesses or the church.”

The NNC also claimed that it has in the past clarified its stand on the issue of taxation and said, “We love our people and freedom and never believe in this taxation in the name of national workers or freedom.” The NNC has therefore appealed all concerned not to include them with other NPGs on the issue of tax collection. It also urged the NGOs and civil societies to name these groups involved in the taxation business in the interest of public.
