NNC (PB) appeals to celebrate 75 years anniversary of Naga Independence Day

Kohima, August 8 (MExN): The Naga National Council (Parent Body) under the leadership of Yilow Humtsoe, Zhiongba Yimkhiung and V Nagi have appealed to all the Nagas in the Homeland and around the world to celebrate the 75 years anniversary of Naga Independence Day which was declared 75 years ago and acknowledged by the United Nations and also the Government of India recognises the historical and political rights of the Nagas which is already in the political agreement signed by both the entities.

“Nagas as a people and nation have been fighting for our political and historical rights to be recognised by other sovereign nations as a free and independent nation to develop itself in this part of the world for peace and development,” Information & Publicity Wing, NNC (Parent Body) stated in a press release. 

Therefore the Naga people as a whole must stand firm in our historical and political rights to be recognised officially, and we must observe and celebrate in a dignified manner as a duty and respect for the national day, it stated. 

The NNC (Parent Body) has directed all the regional councils and NNC members of all the Nagas in the Homeland to observe solemnly and celebrate with dignity and honour as a people and nation. “The Naga people as a whole must take it as a bounden duty to celebrate in honour and thanksgiving to our Living God for this significant anniversary. May God bless the Naga people as we look forward to celebrate this day. KUKNALIM,” it added.
