Dimapur, February 26 (MExN): The Naga National Council (NNC) has questioned the stand taken by the Ao Senden with regard to unification of Nagas and pointed out that the statement of Ao Senden appearing in the local press was in contradiction to its three point resolutions. The NNC in a press note issued by its member Thomas stated that the Ao Senden statement was a “call to support NSCN-IM while even the cadres of the so-called NSCN are rejecting I-M leadership and they are facing their ultimate doom”.
“The Ao Senden leaders better know that the proclamation of Isak on 13th January 2007 bears no value. Because, on the same day Isak group brutally killed two innocent Konyaks in Kohima and after that many people have been killed by them”, the NNC stated and pointed out that Isak “did not declare cessation of violence and admit their mistake in the history” and that “if their sins are not confessed how can the Nagas or God forgive them”.
The NNC stated that reconciliation and unity based on national foundation and Principle is a must for all Nagas and that the NNC/FGN was interacting with all the leaders of Naga communities, Church leaders and student leaders in the interest of peace and unity among the Nagas since 2006. “As it is the need of hour, many Naga community leaders, Church leaders and student leaders responded to our invitation and we have built up well understanding on the Naga National affairs with them. So also we have invited Ao Senden leaders twice last year in 2007 and in this year too, but we have no response so far from them”, the NNC lamented while adding that the “Aos are educated and rich people and our nation needs their contributions and services in defense of our sovereignty”.
The NNC expressed hope that the Ao Senden leaders may “rightly comprehend and analyse the present Naga national affairs instead of issuing a statement in support of terrorist group or misleading their people through such statement”. Pointing out that such statement encourages more violence and factionalism, the NNC stated that “supporting factionalism will not work for peace and reconciliation”. “Factionalism is apart from nationalism. And the Nagas are fed-up with the factionalism. Last of all, Ao Senden’s statement is contradictory to its three resolutions”.
