NNC/FGN decides to abstain from ‘Nurturing Naga Peoplehood’ meet

Kohima, February 13 (MExN): The Naga National Workers under the NNC/FGN will not be able to attend the a two-day Naga gathering called ‘Nurturing Naga Peoplehood’ scheduled from February 17-18,  informed Gen (Retd) TM Keyho, President, Naga National Council (NNC).

The NNC/FGN cannot clearly establish its purpose, the President stated in a letter to the organising committee - Naga Shisha Hoho and Forum for Naga Reconciliation
Besides, the letter asserted out that the NNC is the “only Naga Political Institution and FGN is its legitimate Naga National Government.” “So it can never be projected as a political group like the other political groups which you are inviting to the meeting,” it added

Further, the letter noted that it cannot be established as to whether the meeting is “organised to unite our people to uphold 1951 plebiscite and defend Naga sovereignty or to unite our people to accept a solution under the constitution of India.” “I am confident that you understand these facts and appreciate our stand,” Gen (Retd) Keyho added in the letter.

The Naga Shisha Hoho (NSH) and Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) has called the gathering under the theme, ‘Liberating the Naga Spirit’ and had extended its invitation to Naga Churches, Naga political groups, tribal organisations, Nagaland Gaon Bora Federation, civil society organisations, students’ organisations, media, and individuals.
