DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 21 (MExN): The Naga National Council, Government of the Democratic Republic of Nagaland (Non-Accord) [NNC/GDRN (N-A)] issued a caution against two former members accused of misusing the organization’s name for personal agendas.
In a press release, the council alleged that ousted General Secretary Shihoto I. Yesca and Kilonser L. Shiludi Longkumer have been "trying to replicate and highjack the name of the Government (NNC/GDRN (N-A)) in various platform, Print media and for their personal agendas."
A press release from the MIP of the group said that the legitimate NNC/GDRN (N-A) operates solely under the "Collective Leadership of President Kiumukam Yimkhiung and General Secretary George Yangba Konyak."
It cautioned the former members not to use its name, stating, "Failing with, a serious repercussion will be initiated against those individual found violating this Adza, for which the govt will not be held responsible in the near future." The statement further warned of potential public exposure for those engaging in "sinister, unethical and fraudulent means."
The organization also addressed recent attempts by Yesca and Longkumer to form a new faction, saying, "The recent Press Statement by the terminated duo [...] of floating a new faction is of their own choice and decision." While offering "best wishes for their future endeavour," the NNC/GDRN (N-A) reiterated that the use of its nomenclature by the pair remains strictly prohibited.
In an advisory to business associations, contractors, and the general public across Dimapur, Chümoukedima, and Newland, the council urged caution, advising that only "legitimate and genuinely assigned person[s] of NNC/GDRN (N-A)" should be engaged with.
The NNC/GDRN (N-A) reaffirmed its commitment as a signatory to the historic 'Agreed Position' and pledged to uphold the leadership of N. Kitovi Zhimomi as convener of the Working Committee of the NNPGs "on behalf of the Naga People" until a resolution is achieved.
