DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 16 (MExN): The Naga National Council/People’s Republic of Nagaland (NNC/PRN) has merged with NSCN(R), an MIP press statement from NSCN (R) informed on Sunday.
The ceremony programme of the merger of the two groups was held at the ceasefire office of NSCN(R) on October 15 at Mon with NSCN(R) President Y Wangtin Naga welcoming the leaders and workers of NNC/PRN, the press statement read.
The need of the hour for the Nagas is to seek one another and fragmented Naga political groups need to unite to ensure a single and unified force, Wangtin stated at the merger programme.
He recalled the past glorious days of the Naga people under the banner of NNC from 1940s till 1980s when they stood collectively with a unified voice which became “fragmented by the confusion cloud of Shillong Accord of 1975.”
Wangtin also asserted hat the “Naga people have not surrendered before India and Burma (Myanmar) till today and that even in the future, Naga people will not surrender before any forces.”
He also expressed appreciation for the “selfless decision” of O. Chingmak Chang, President NNC/PRN and Dr. Amento, General Secretary NNC/ PRN for taking the right step to merge with the NSCN (R) in the interest of the Naga cause.
