DIMAPUR, AUGUST 14 (MExN): President of the NSCN (R), Y Wangtin Naga today stated that the unique history of the Nagas cannot be crushed by adversaries.
In a statement to commemorate the Naga Independence Day, he said: “In our six decades struggle for self determination, we gained nothing other than loss of properties costing hundreds millions dollar worth, human lives and division among us.”
The “only practical achievement of this contemporary Naga freedom movement,” he claimed, was coming together of six Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs/WC) namely: GPRN/NSCN, NSCN/GPRN-Reformation, NNC (Parent Body), NNC/FGN, NNC/GDRN and NNC/NPGN who signed a ‘Deed of Commitment’ on August 8, 2017 at Dimapur.
The NSCN (R) President hoped that the Working Group will shortly enter into formal talk with the Government of India. It further appreciated the mature approach of the GoI and urged that all Nagas must co-operate to hammer out an internationally acceptable solution on the basis of equality and mutual respect.
He meanwhile also urged the Union of Myanmar to take similar serious step for resolution of Myanmar- Naga conflict by “taking an example of India’s seriousness and bold decision.”
