Dimapur, May 6 (MExN): The Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) and the Pochury Hoho have agreed that at this juncture of Naga history, reality must precede idealism and illusion, according to a joint press statement.
The agreement was made during a consultation between the NNPGs and Pochury Hoho including representatives from Pochury Mothers’ Association (PMA), Pochury Students' Union (PSU), Pochury Youth Association (PYA) and Dimapur Pochury Hoho held at the Oking to exchange views and opinions concerning Indo-Naga political struggle “which requires serious attention of the people of Nagaland.”
The NNPGs and Pochury Hoho further reiterated the historical fact that “Nagas are separated by artificial boundaries without their approval and consent which is why social, cultural and emotional integration among Nagas living in different administrative areas, should be maintained till such time future Naga generations decide to chart a nobler, higher political course.”
The Pochury Hoho, the statement said, expressed appreciation at the coming together of different Naga political groups. Meanwhile, the NNPGs acknowledged that “the Pochury Nagas experienced the greatest destruction and suffering at the hands of occupational forces, owing to their loyalty and commitment towards the Naga nation.”
“The shooting down of the Indian Air Force Dakota plane and the great battle at Thuda Post and the subsequent savagery at Matikhrü village perpetrated upon the innocent Pochury people all points to the fact that Pochury people remain an inspirational tribe and an inseparable component in our desire to find an honourable and acceptable political settlement for the people of Nagaland, considering the Government of India (GOI) firmly ruling out integration of Naga inhabited areas at a present time,” asserted the statement.
The statement was signed by GPRN/NSCN (MB Neokpao Konyak/ N. Kitovi Zhimomi), NNC/GDRN (Kiumukam), NSCN (Reformation), NNC (Parent Body) (Z. Royi/ V Nagi), NNC/NPGN (Hozheto/ Tsanthungo), Chulekhu (President, Pochury Hoho), Machü Joshou (President, PMA), Joyson Pfithu (President, PSU), William Thupitor (President, PYA).
