NNPGs Working Committee gives seven-day deadline to defectors

Dimapur, October 6 (MExN): The Working Committee of six NNPGs has set a seven-day deadline for all national workers under the six NNPGs, both in the civil and military set up, who defected after May 13, 2017, to rejoin their respective Naga National Political Group (NNPG). Adopting a firm position to “end the menace of defection” within the six NNPGs and reaffirming earlier resolutions of May 13, 2017 and September 19, 2017, the Working Committee (WC) informed this in a press statement from its Media Cell.

“All defectors must report to their respective competent authorities within seven days from the date of publication of this press statement. The fervent appeal of Tribal Hohos and Civil Societies is duly acknowledged. Any civil or military worker failing to abide by this order shall be dealt with as deemed appropriate by the Working Committee of NNPGs,” the statement warned.

It further asserted that the six NNPGs are determined to uphold the principle of reconciliation and unity in letter and spirit. “At this critical juncture of Naga history, a firm decision and correct measures must be adopted to control the curse of defection,” the Working Committee stated, while appealing to all tribal hohos and civil societies to assist the NNPGs in this endeavour.

“It is a right time to exhibit oneness of purpose, transparency, trust and commitment among all sections of Nagas.”
