DIMAPUR, MAY 9 (MExN): The Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) Working Group (WG) and the Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) held a meeting on May 9.
A press note informed that the meeting was held to exchange views and ideas on common social, political and historical issues “confronting mainland Nagas at this crucial hour of our existence.”
It stated that the historical milestone such as the plebiscite of 1951 was entrenched in the meeting. “The NNPGs acknowledged that the spirit of nationalism of Chakhesang Nagas had been the backbone of Naga political movement.
Chakhesang Nagas have given the Naga Nation some of the bravest freedom fighters and ablest generals in Naga history. Chakhesang Nagas also acted as spiritual guides and therefore as pioneers of the struggle, the active participation, contribution and opinion of Chakhesang Nagas matters much in any future political settlement,” the press note said.
It further informed that the CPO meanwhile appreciated the positive “steps taken by NNPGs under Working Group for the common interest of the Nagas.” The CPO agreed that reconciliation and unity among the Nagas should be pursued earnestly to find an honourable and acceptable political solution to the long drawn Indo-Naga political issue.
