DIMAPUR, JUNE 13 (MExN): The Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) Mediation Committee held a meeting with the 6 Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) under the platform of Working Group on June 12 and reaffirmed its earlier commitment to work cohesively in the best interest of Naga people as a whole.
A press note from the NTC media cell informed that the meeting began with 2 minutes of silence in respect to the departed Naga Leader SS Khaplang, who passed away on June 9. The NNPG Working Group expressed its readiness to enter into political negotiation with the Government of India (GoI) for a lasting political solution to the protracted Naga political problem “if invited by GOI.”
The meeting further resolved that henceforth, the 6 NNPGs will jointly work under the NNPG-Working Group towards the common aspiration of the people.
Seeks NBCC’s ‘spiritual blessing’
The NNPGs Working Group also met the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) today, wherein the NNPG leaders sought the NBCC’s spiritual blessing, while also briefing the church leaders on the positive steps taken by the NNPGs to come together and pursue the common aspiration of the people.
A statement from the Working Group informed that the NBCC expressed hope that the coming together of six NNPGs would strengthen historical, social, and spiritual cord among all Nagas. “The church also appealed that the other political groups who are yet to come forward into the fold be invited unconditionally so that the great promise of God to Nagas could be fulfilled,” it added. The NBCC, also “assured continued unceasing prayer support for the peace and unity of the Naga people.”
The NNPGs meanwhile endorsed NBCC's Clean Election Campaign while strongly affirming that the NNPGs will not involve, indulge or participate in Indian elections.
