MHSU, TASU writes to state government seeking immediate intervention
DIMAPUR, AUGUST 5 (MExN): Public of Tobu and Mopong sub-divisions are in dire straits as they remain cut off from the rest of the state due to massive landslides and floods in several locations as a consequence of heavy rainfall in the region.
The situation is further confounded by the absence of administrative officers in station. Tobu and Mopong sub-divisions are both under EAC administration. However, as a result of a reshuffle of the NCS officers recently, the incumbent officers have been transferred out without any reliever so far, a joint press release issued by the Mopong Hongkong Students’ Union (MHSU) and Tobu Area Students’ Union (TASU) stated on Wednesday.
In such a scenario, the student bodies stated that the public are facing untold hardship with no officials to administer the current situation or address their grievances even as shortage of essential commodities looms large. Public are also compelled to walk for kilometers from their villages on foot to cross the landslide affected zone to catch taxis, they pointed out.
School going students are also affected by the absence of the administrative officers as it was delaying in obtaining a number of pertinent documents, thereby affecting their career. Further, delay in posting of a SDEO for the last seven months have badly affected the academic session in the 45 government run schools under Tobu sub-division, the student bodies stated.
While highlighting the above, the student bodies have sought the intervention of the Nagaland Government for immediate redress by deploying the administrative officers to their respective posting place.
