Phek, February 8 (MExN): The District Hospital Phek, at present has no blood bank or blood storage facility. According to a press release from the NHM Phek office, ‘On many instances there were very critical patients admitted needing emergency surgical interventions. Many patients do not have related blood donors for blood transfusion and find difficult to mobilise voluntary blood donors in many emergency situations. 

“The District Hospital regularly reaches out to the 38th Assam Rifle for the blood donors. The Unit had been very supportive and promptly send the donors on request,” said Kutolu Nakro, District Media Officer, NHM Phek in a press release. “This has enabled in performing many life saving procedures especially emergency Caesarean Section, ruptured ectopic pregnancy and severe bleeding cases,” he added.

While appreciating the 38th Assam Rifle for their “unique and noble gesture towards the humanity,” NHM Phek added, “We hope that this outstanding service to the public will continue even in the future.”
