Mokokchung, March 16 (MExN): The Land Owners’ Board of Mokokchung Town (comprising Ungma, Mokokchung, and Khensa villages) has reaffirmed its earlier resolution to ban civic polls within its jurisdiction "until and unless the State Government rectifies/amends all sections and clauses regarding Land and Building Tax under Nagaland Municipal Act 2001.” To this end, the Board, in its general meeting on March 16, further resolved to strongly oppose elections to Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) till the necessary amendments are made. "The indigenous land holding rights of the Aos, which have been secured through the blood and toil of our ancestors, are safeguarded by Article 371(A) of the Indian Constitution, and we want to ensure that these rights are not compromised in any manner whatsoever," the Board justified in its resolution.
